"If you think things can't get worse, it's probably only because you lack sufficient imagination"

Savita Bhabhi – India’s Cartoon Adult Star

Turning the tables on Bollywood’s demure heroines — who’ve only recently started agreeing to lip-to-lip kisses on screen — “Savita Bhabhi” (or sister-in-law Savita) is a buxom, recently married housewife who knows what she wants and how to get it.

Bored with her workaholic husband, she seduces door-to-door salesmen, neighborhood cricket players, even a not-so-subtle stand-in for the gray-bearded Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan — a move that earned her some flak from Indian entertainment channels.

Though pornography is illegal in India, Savita Bhabhi’s sexual misadventures, published on savitabhabhi.com with scripts based on fantasies submitted by fans, have attracted a huge following, according to one of the strip’s anonymous creators, who goes by the screen name Deshmukh.

“We get 60 million unique visitors every month. The average time a visitor spends on our site is more than 10 minutes,” the site administrator told GlobalPost by email. “Almost 70 percent of our traffic is from India, while the rest is from the U.S., U.K. and more than 80 other countries.”

Anxiety In India About Obama Administration

Anxiety continues to grow in India over the Obama presidency, says John Elliott on The Daily Beast.

Pakistan has firmly believed that India had a special place in George W. Bush’s heart from turning a blind eye to the activities in Kashmir to the nuclear deal that allowed India to buy nuclear hardware from the international community without signing the Non Proliferation Treaty. But the undertones coming out of New Delhi shows an increasing anxiety about what Obama can and will do for India.

John Elliott lays out some of India’s arguments on The Daily Beast:

India is not against Obama. It recognizes that the world should be a better and safer place with him as president, but it has lost its best foreign friend. Bush brought it out of the cold and helped to make it an international player by instigating-with Condoleezza Rice-the U.S.-India nuclear pact that scraped through just before Bush took his fingers off the levers of power. The deal enables the U.S. and other countries such as France and Russia to sell nuclear plants and allied technology to India, which had been banned for many years since India developed nuclear weapons.

A particular concern has been India’s hope that Obama will not link two distinct issues: the urgent international issue of the Taliban and al Qaeda on the Afghan-Pakistan border with far less critical India-Pakistan differences over Kashmir. For its part, Pakistan has been arguing that a settlement of the Kashmir question would allow it to move troops from the Indian border to tackle the insurgents and terrorists on the Afghan side.

After a strenuous lobbying campaign in Washington, India has successfully persuaded Obama not to include India in the Pakistan-Afghanistan brief given to Richard Holbrooke, his new special envoy to the region. The lobbying was blunt. At one meeting, India’s emissaries told Madeleine Albright, the former secretary of state and a leading Obama adviser, that Holbrooke would not be welcome in Delhi if India was included in his brief. Albright apparently asked, presumably mischievously, if he would be given an Indian visa. Yes, came the reply, but not much else. Read the rest of this entry »

Obama Administration Open to Indian Lobbyists

According to a new Washington Post story, Indian diplomats were worried about his tough-as-nails reputation and didn’t want him meddling in Kashmir. Holbrooke, nicknamed “The Bulldozer,” for his ability to negotiate resolution in the most conflicted situations.

Quoting C. Raja Mohan, an Indian strategic analyst, “I think it is time for us – having fobbed off Holbrooke – to sit quietly and ask where we are and how do we manage the situation.” He is also reported to have warned Holbrooke against “any high-profile intervention” in Kashmir.

India’s former National Security Advisor, Brajesh Mishra, “No matter what government is in place, India is not going to relinquish control of Jammu and Kashmir. That is written in stone and cannot be changed.”

A US official in Washington told the Washington Post that Holbrooke was originally tasked as the Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Pakistan “and related matters,” code for India and Kashmir, but on the morning of the announcement, “related matters had been deleted from the description.

Anyway you look at it, the Obama administration has shown that his new dialogue with the Muslim world goes through Tel Aviv and New Delhi.

On January 26, 2008, Purohit asked him to come to Faridabad and meet a few people for his project. There he was introduced to Sameer Kulkarni and the other accused in the Malegaon blast case. Then on April 12, 2008, Purohit called him for a meeting at Ram Mandir. He met all the Malegaon accused and another 20 people, along with the ex-Raw officer and the IB source.
